Afternoon Tea & Raffle

Thank you to everyone who has booked an Afternoon Tea, we were overwhelmed with the response; booking is now closed payment should be made, before Thursday 17th October, via ParentPay.

We would like to confirm that everyone is welcome at our ‘Pink’ Charity Event on Friday – you do not have to have an Afternoon Tea booked to attend!

Please come and enjoy the flute ensemble, have a go at golf and try your luck at the tombola.

Raffle tickets are now on sale, £1.00 a strip (5 tickets).  Please bring change where possible.  Prizes include:
  • 3 x Free Boiler Services – John Wright Electrical Services
  • 4 tickets to The Maize Maze
  • £25 Voucher – The Wenlock Arms, Wheldrake
  • Date Night Graze box – Grazey Baby

We hope everyone will have an enjoyable afternoon next week, Friday 18th 3.30pm – 5.30pm.  There will be lots of games and prizes for the children.  Please bring change as we aren’t able to provide floats on the stalls.

We are all looking forward to next Friday’s charity event, in aid of Breast Cancer Research. Thank you to everyone who has booked an afternoon tea. (Last bookings for these are 12 noon today.) We are extremely grateful to everyone who has donated to our raffle and tombola. Please read the information in the Newsletter to avoid missing anything on the day!

You are still able to assist us by downloading the Asda App and choosing our school to receive funding each time you shop. So far you have raised nearly £200. Thank you.

PTA News – Spooky Treats, Christmas Disco Planning and Easyfundraising

The PTA will be running a ‘Spooky Treat Sale’ on Friday 25th October, from 3.15 pm. Treats will be £1 per item.

Advanced notification – there will be a planning meeting for the Christmas Disco on Wednesday 13th November, starting at 3:15pm. A crèche will be available in order to encourage as many parents/carers to attend as possible.

The Christmas Disco will be held on Wednesday 18th December (5pm to 6pm for EYFS & Key Stage 1 and 6pm to 7:15pm for Key Stage 2).

Elvington’s PTA Team are registered with easyfundraising, which means you can raise FREE donations for the PTA every time you shop online. Over 4,000 shops and sites from Amazon to holidays and car insurance, will donate to the PTA when you use easyfundraising, at no extra cost to yourself! The aforementioned donations make a significant difference as the PTA missed out on numerous events due to Covid-19. It’s completely FREE and only takes a moment. The PTA supports the school by raising money to enhance, enrich and improve learning experiences/opportunities for each and every child who attends Elvington. We are now taking bookings for the Afternoon Tea and they are selling fast! Hutchisons Catering Team require final numbers by 11th October.

Thank you to everyone who have downloaded the Asda App and nominated Elvington Primary School as your chosen school, you have so far raised £172.89. This offer does not cost you a penny and there is still plenty of time to take part! (30th November closing date.)

Look out for the free events happening in York soon, including chance to visit the Minster for a family event, saving £18 per adult, and 2 free musical offers.

We hope you were all in receipt of the ‘Wear it Pink Day’ information, which was sent out yesterday. Please can we stress, we do not expect anyone to purchase pink clothes solely for this event! For more information, please see here.

Again, we would be extremely grateful if any of our Asda shoppers would look at the Cashpot for Schools item. Downloading the Asda app and choosing Elvington School means we will benefit from your shop, without it costing you a penny extra.

Starting Reception in September 2025?

You should apply for your child to start primary or infant school in the school year your child turns 4 so if your child was born between 1st September 2020 and 31st August 2021 it is time to start thinking about joining Reception next year and applying!

We will be holding an Open Morning in school on Thursday 3rd October and would be glad to welcome prospective families to come and see our lovely village school, and to answer any questions you may have.

Online applications for Reception places in September 2025 have now opened at www.york.gov.uk/schooladmissions. Please note that applying early does not give any priority, although to have the best chance of your application being successful you should complete and submit your application by the deadline which is the 15th January 2025.
