Menu Alteration Thursday 27th May – Picnic on the Playing Field!

On the last day of this half term, Thursday 27th May, school lunch will be a Picnic on the Playing Field! For those choosing a school lunch this will comprise of sandwiches (vegetarian and meat), crisps, crudités, cake and fruit.
This event will be for all children, regardless of their meal choice on the day. However, as we have all experienced this week, the British weather can be far from predictable! This is why we are immensely grateful to The York Teepee Company (Emma Hartley) for offering to provide bell tents, gazebos, flooring, balloon clouds, bunting and decorations on the day; this will ensure that the picnic will be able to go ahead, regardless of the weather.
To assist Sarah, our cook, with ordering and preparation, if your child is wanting a Picnic Lunch provided by school, please pre-book this on ParentPay.
This does not show as a separate event; it is bookable in the usual way in ‘school meals’.

Please don’t hesitate to contact Mrs Greening in the office if you have any queries.

Elvington PTA Meeting

Elvington PTA (Parents Teachers Association) will be having an annual meeting on Wednesday 12th May at 6:00pm. This will be held via “Google Meet”. As Lisa Smith has stepped down as the Chair of the PTA, we are hoping to appoint a new Chair to support the general running of the PTA within the meeting. As always, we would love more parents to join the PTA to support fundraising events for our school. If you are interested in joining the PTA and would like to come along to the meeting, please
email c.palmer@elvingtonprimary.org.uk for the meeting code.

Year 6 Bikeability

This term, Year 6 pupils have the opportunity to take part in Bikeability training. There will be 4 x 2 hour sessions, 9.30 – 11.30 am, Monday 24th May to Thursday 27th May. If you are happy for your child to take part, please read and complete the consent form which has been emailed to families of children in Year 6, and return this by 12th May 2021.

Bikeability is the national cycle training programme supported and partly funded by the Department for Transport. The course builds the skills and confidence of children who can already ride. Bikeability can not only make children better cyclists – potentially for the rest of their lives – but can help with general confidence and independent thinking.  All of our Bikeability training is delivered by qualified, professional, DBS checked National Standard Instructors.
Bikeability will be delivered in line with current Covid-19 government guidance for schools. Parents/carers must accept responsibility for the risk of transmission of Covid-19 to their child, complete a thorough bike check, notify school of sanitizer allergies and identity vulnerable children and children living with vulnerable adults.  Visit www.bikeability.org.uk for more information.Bikeability
