All you have to do is download the Asda Rewards app, choose Elvington Primary School and scan each time you shop in store or online at asda.com, between now and 30th November 2024. Starting Year 7 in September 2025?
Families of children in Year 6 – it is nearly time to start applying for a secondary school place. You can make your application for a secondary school place from 12th September in the year when your child is in Year 6. The national application deadline is 31st October.

- Tuesday 8 October – York High School
- Wednesday 9 October – Vale of York Academy

Guide for Parents/School Catchment Areas
Please read the Guide for Parents before applying for a school place, it contains key information on school admissions for parents/carers. You can also find the Guide to School Catchment Areas online.
How to apply
You should apply via your home local authority – this is the local authority to whom you pay council tax. For York families, you can apply online at www.york.gov.uk/schooladmissions from 12th September 2024. With an online application you will receive an email confirming submission of your application and the ability to view your application and results online at a later date. If you are not a York resident you can find information on your home local authority’s website.
If you have difficulty applying online, you can contact the admissions team on 01904 551 554, who can talk you through how to apply. If you can’t apply online you can request a paper Secondary Application Form.
There’s no advantage to applying early, so you have plenty of time to attend Open Evenings before making an application however for the best chance of a place at your preferred school you do need to ensure that you have applied, either online (and submitted your application), or by returning a Secondary Application Form by the national deadline of 31st October 2024.
APPLY VIA CYC ADMISSIONS ONLINE FOR A SECONDARY SCHOOL PLACE HERE
If you applied online, your application result will be available online from 10.00am on National Offer Day, which is 1st March (or next working day). You’ll require your username and password.
If you didn’t apply online, you’ll receive a letter confirming your application result a few days later.
Supplementary Information Forms
You may also need to provide additional information (such as proof of baptism), or complete a Supplementary Information Form (SIF) if you’re applying to a school:
- outside the City of York area, or
- a faith school, such as your local Church of England or Roman Catholic Primary or Secondary school
Check with the school directly if a SIF is required, but always make your school place application to your home Local Authority. SIFs for all York secondaries can be found on and downloaded from the relevant Admission Policy page for the year of application on the CYC website.

Wear It Pink!
Please see the presentation below regarding an exciting charity fundraising day coming soon. We would be very grateful for raffle/tombola prizes, and have attached a few ideas of All things Pink!
We hope to see as many of you there as possible, to support this worthy cause. Please can we stress, we do not expect anyone to purchase pink clothes solely for this event. Perhaps borrow a pink t-shirt or PJ’s, ask relatives if they have a pink scarf, socks or tie. If you are aiming on ‘top to toe pink’ and are unable to borrow items, charity shops can be a good place to visit and a low cost purchase will benefit another cause. Tie dying clothes is also a cheap and fun weekend activity.
