School Council Sock Puppet Competition!
The School Council are organising a competition as part of their activities for Anti-Bullying Week, which is taking place from the 13th to the 17th of November.
Odd Socks Day marks the start of Anti-Bullying Week and we want to join in celebrating what makes us all unique, and spreading kindness! There will be a prize for the best sock puppet and small prizes for all who enter. If you would like to enter please have your sock puppet in school for judging on Friday 17th November.School Council

Wear your sporty outfit day!
The School Council would like to raise money to buy some new football nets. They have been working alongside Hannah from Phunky Foods as their role as Phunky Food Ambassadors. They have already produced a short video to tell the Phunky Food what they would like to do to promote healthy living within school.
On Monday 19th June, they would like you to make a voluntary contribution to wear your favourite sporty outfit to school. (Suggested donation of £1-2.)
Any money they make will be matched by funds from the PE budget. They do hope you will support their plans.

Elvington’s Got Talent
The School council are organising their annual summer Talent Show. If your child would like to share their talents, heats will be held within classes in July, with a grand final on Wednesday 19th July. Previous acts have been: singing, dancing, puppet shows, playing instruments, gymnastics… All children will be responsible for their own music, props and costumes. The School Council will be our judges!
Unfortunately, we will not be inviting parents to this event this time.

School Council Competition
The School Council have been working alongside Hannah, from Phunky Food, to promote healthy snacks at break time. Today, they planned and delivered an amazing assembly to the whole school.
They have also organised a competition to design a poster promoting healthy snacks. The poster will be used around school to highlight what foods are acceptable at break and why. There will be prizes for the winning entries. The closing date is Monday 17th October.

Competition Success for the School Council !
A big well done to the School Council for winning 2nd prize in a competition entered before lockdown. The £500 cash prize was awarded by the Rotary Club.
The Council successfully put forward a case for improving and extending the play area, to include a bark chip surface where tyres, logs and other natural resources can be used. In the future, they would like to add a summer house, raised beds and reflection area. This money will help kick start this project.

School Council Bring and Buy Sale
The School Council met last week and discussed if a Bring and Buy sale could be held to raise money to assist Australian animals. This was agreed and will be held on Friday 31st January 3.15pm – 3.30pm in the playground.

School Council News – Litter Competition
School Council, in conjunction with City of York Council, want to encourage children and residents of Elvington to be litter aware. Therefore, they have helped launch a competition to remind the community of this environmental issue.
Entry Details:
- Children are to design an A4 poster to encourage people not to drop litter and keep our village/environment clean and tidy
- Child’s name and year group to be written on the back of each poster
- Use felt tips – not crayon as it does not show up!
- Writing must be clear and spelt correctly
- It must be their own work – no clip art/google
The launch will be on Monday 18th Feb with an assembly at 2:45 run by York City Council.
Judging will take place on Monday 11th March.
Winners will be announced in assembly on Monday 18th March.
There will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize-winner for each year group. The Parish Council and the Ward Committee of York City Council have kindly donated prizes. 1st prize winners will in addition, have their work made into a poster to display around the village!
