You should apply for your child to start primary school in the school year your child turns 4 so for entry into Reception in the September 2025 school year, children will have been born between 1st September 2020 and 31st August 2021. Applications for children who were born between 1st September 2021 and 31st August 2022, who will start Reception in September 2026, cannot be made until the Autumn of 2025. Online applications for September 2025 opened on the 12th September 2024 at www.york.gov.uk/ schooladmissions. With an online application you will receive an email confirming submission of your application and the ability to view your application and results online at a later date. If you can’t apply online you can request a paper Primary Application Form by calling 01904 551554. Please note that applying early does not give any priority, although to have the best chance of your application being successful you should complete and submit your application by the deadline which is the 15th January 2025.
