We are very pleased to inform you that our recent Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) graded our school as ‘Good’ in all areas of its provision as a Church school.
The revised SIAMS Evaluation Schedule, introduced in 2018, is far more rigorous; as a result it is considerably more challenging for schools to achieve a ‘Good’ grade. The report really captures all that is special about our wonderful school. It recognises the maturity, sensitivity, and excellent behaviour for learning that our children demonstrate; this is nurtured by the hard work and commitment of a skilled staff team.
A SIAMS inspection focuses on the impact of the Church school’s Christian vision on pupils and adults. This involves looking at the school’s Christian vision, the provision the school makes because of this vision and how effective this provision is in enabling all pupils to flourish. Throughout the day, the inspector observed lessons; had discussions with pupils; staff; parents/carers; members of the Governing Body; looked through children’s books; reviewed Collective Worship and analysed our School Improvement Plans, action plans and self-evaluation documents.
The Inspector saw elements and features of excellence, which we will strive to achieve across our provision. We will continue to develop, improve and extend the opportunities for pupils’ spiritual engagement by enhancing the indoors and outdoors learning environments and developing understanding of global issues/diversity.
The key findings were as follows:
– The Headteacher, supported by other leaders and the diocese, has passionately driven church school improvement. As a result, pupils and adults have quality opportunities to experience ‘life in all its fullness’.
– Care and nurture permeate relationships in school and partnerships with the wider community. Pupils feel safe, know they are valued and consequently are able to learn. Academic progress is good.
– The evolving curriculum, shaped by the Christian vision, provides rich learning experiences. Intentional opportunities for spiritual development and exploring diversity are less well developed.
– Governors are committed to the school and the new leadership. Their monitoring of the school as a church school, has, however lacked rigour and planning.
– Invitational, varied opportunities for worship and prayer are planned and evaluated. Opportunities for pupils to lead are recent, but are being enthusiastically embraced. This is leading to growing confidence.
Finally, thank you for supporting us as we continuously strive to achieve the very best holistic outcomes we can for all the children who attend our school.
