Please contact Mr. Buttery via email: head@elvingtonprimary.org.uk, if you would like to receive the unlisted link for our virtual tour. This video is designed to give prospective parents/carers an insight into the life of our school and those who teach, work and learn here. We will also be holding an Open Morning on Thursday 3rd October.
As a voluntary controlled school, our admissions arrangements are set by City of York Council, as the admissions authority for our school. Details of the admissions policies and a range of related information that applies can be found here.

Will your child start reception in September 2025?
You should apply for your child to start primary or infant school in the school year your child turns 4 so for entry into Reception in the September 2025 school year, children will have been born between 1st September 2020 and 31st August 2021.
Applications for children who were born between 1st September 2021 and 31st August 2022, who will start Reception in September 2026, cannot be made until the Autumn of 2025.
Online applications for September 2025 opened on the 12th September 2024 at www.york.gov.uk/schooladmissions. With an online application you will receive an email confirming submission of your application and the ability to view your application and results online at a later date. If you can’t apply online you can request a paper Primary Application Form by calling 01904 551554.
Please note that applying early does not give any priority, although to have the best chance of your application being successful you should complete and submit your application by the deadline which is the 15th January 2025.
Late applications can still be made after this date although your application may be dealt with after all the other applications that were received on or before the application deadline which means you will stand less chance of getting your preferred school.
Please read the Guide for Parents when applying for a school place, as it contains key information on school admissions. You can also find the Guide to School Catchment Areas online. We would advise you to keep checking on the City of York Council Admissions site to keep updated with key dates throughout the year.
